Making note of nearby playgrounds is essential to travel these days. Our wedding trip to Monterey/Carmel this weekend was made all the better by a little advance planning and a subsequent trip to Dennis the Menace Playground. It’s a toddlers dreamscape with tons of jungle gyms, a bumpy slide, and a killer bouldering area that rivals Buttermilk (okay, maybe not for adults but for toddlers? definitely!)
Harper Sue’s current favorite toy is play dough. She loves to haul it around the house and out to the balcony. We’re still working on “no eat” which astounds me given how much salt and cream of tartar is in my recipe!
We have a lot of books… in every room… on nearly every shelf. Not surprising that Harper Sue has developed a love of flipping through the pages. Her preference is 400+ page paperbacks but she’ll pretty much flip through anything with a binding.
We wrapped up an adventurous mommy daughter weekend on Sunday with a play date with Lilia and her mommy and daddy at Discovery Museum.
What a blast! Harper Sue thoroughly enjoyed the Tot Land adventure area complete with a running stream, crossing bridge, indoor pond (think water bed covered with gymnasium vinyl) and discovery structures of every kind. We are definitely getting a membership to this place and coming back as often as possible.
Exploration of the nursery continued this week with new discoveries in the Changing Table territory. Harper Sue’s spelunking skills where tested during the excavation of size 1 diaper relics that had presumably been buried at the back of the territory for safe keeping or disposal.
Many devoted Harper followers have commented on her boundless glee. “Does she always smile like that?” they inquire.
Yes she does. And we believe this is due in no small part to the top-notch entertainment productions of Team Lord. Here’s Patti in a recent performance of Fat Cell Tennis.
I’ve been spending a lot of time erecting block structures. Harper Sue has been spending a lot of time practicing her demolition techniques.
Here’s one of my best works (and the thing in the foreground’s not bad either).
On this afternoon Harper was most proud of her ability to throw the blocks off the table and climb over it to retrieve them again.
Finally captured her pterodactyl call- that’s how I know she’s mine
