Aunt Elissa & Cousin Zach

We had a wonderful visit with Elissa and Zach in early August. This is the second time that the cousins where together. The first time Harper was only a few days old and the meet & greet lasted less than a minute so I’m not sure it counts?

This visit definitely counted and included a brief cousin-ly hand hold and some synchronized screaming. We loaded up the strollers and headed to the Cal Academy of Sciences to check out the butterflies and fishies, attempted a civilized dinner at The Moss Room, and ate burritos under a tree in Dolores Park.

Zachary is an absolute doll! I’m so looking forward to family holidays and some San Diego beach time with the cousin crew.

The squirrel is not the only one rocking today.

We got this onesie recently at the Renegade Craft Fair.

Aunt Sandi

Stars aligned toward the end of our Tahoe weekend (blog post coming soon) and Harper Sue got to spend a few hours with her Aunt Sandi. These pictures where taken after a 20 minute crying session. Notice that Sandi is still smiling? That’s how we know she’s a phenomenal Aunt.

Baby comb-over has arrived! Many of the babies in my mama’s group already have this fashionable hairdo so I knew it was only a matter of time. Her new hair will likely start coming in around 4 months. Until then, she’ll likely loose patches of her birth hair, making her the prettiest baby on the block.

  1. nanci corzine: She still has more hair than you did at that age.

  2. Barbara Lord: Both Harper and Zacky are doing better than Pop Pop Pete :)

Morning Boogie

  1. nanci corzine: She loves to move those legs. I can't wait to see her next "dance steps". I'll have to start thinking…

  2. Lilia's Mommy: diggin' the am boogie vocals!

  3. Barbara Lord: Next, she'll be learning the hula :)

Official (aka: naked) weigh in as of Friday, 7/17/09.

Other interesting metrics:

  • Head circumference = 15 inches
  • Head to foot length = 22 inches
  • Social skills = advanced for her age

BIG Sunday

Harper Sue had an event-packed day today. Started with a pancake & champagne brunch at our house before heading out to stroll the car-free Sunday Streets route and finally heading back in time to catch the San Francisco Symphony performing in our front yard.

Sunday Streets is inspired by the Ciclovía in Bogota, Columbia that draws more than 1.5 million people to walk, bike, skate and enjoy more than 70 miles of streets opened to people – and closed to automobile traffic – every week. The concept has spread around the world from Tokyo, Japan to Kiev, Ukraine and is a BIG hit here in San Francisco.

After we boogied back to the house, did a quick diaper change, grabbed a blanket and headed across the street to Dolores Park for the 6th Annual *FREE* San Francisco Symphony performance. Last year it was overcast and cold but we enjoyed the entire performance. This year the weather was gorgeous, the park was packed!, and we ended up lasting less than an hour. The sun used to be the reason we stayed out longer and now is a factor to contend with, at least until Harper can start wearing sunscreen.

A bustling day that ends with Rob making a mean salad for dinner and me sharing the festivities with my favorite peeps: YOU.

  1. Brynn Evans: Looks fun! Breakfast was great (thanks again) — and thanks for sharing the Sunday Streets & Symphony videos since we…

  2. nanci corzine: Isn't it nice to be able to do these things AGAIN and as a family? I'm looking forward to sharing…

Harper Sue hasn’t fully taken to a pacifier but will, on occasion, indulge in a minute or two of testing. I’m relieved she doesn’t look like a drain hole that often and since she is getting better at sucking her hand it’s likely we’ll skip the pacifier all together.

  1. nanci corzine: WOW! Pacifiers have sure changed. And just so you know, you wouldn't take one either. Love, mom
