Happy Birthday Ira

Ira turned 3 today.

We brought out a lot of the traditional birthday regalia including the birthday banner, party hats, a memory board (above), and to Harper’s delight and Ira’s disinterest: balloons!

It seems like MUCH longer than three years ago that we headed to Camp Verde, AZ to pick him up from the breeder. He was our first joint responsibility, first to go through potty training (fewer in-house accidents than Harper as I recall) and has the much-desired role as Harper Sue’s best friend and herder.

Ira would not be the happy and healthy dog he is without the love and guidance of his dogwalker: Chris Hayes. Chris has known Ira since we first started puppy class at SF Puppy Prep and Chris’ weekday morning arrivals at our house are joyous for all of us.

A quick and much-truncated trip down memory lane:

A Year of Milestones

Today is Harper Sue’s second birthday.

It has been another year of major accomplishments for this amazing kid and I wanted to share some of the big milestones with all of you. It is such a gift to watch her take on new challenges and experiences with a big big silly resilient heart.

Her joyful demeanor has been preserved and ripened by a loving community of friends and family and special recognition goes to Marina and Emma for their compassion and support as Harper’s nanny this past year.

  1. Marina: It is an amazing gift to be a part of Harper Sue's life! Happy Birthday Sueby! You are at the…

  2. nanci corzine: Nothing more needs to be said except I love you all. Mom/Memer'e

Birthday Video

As you may have seen on the Harper Sue Lord’s Birthday #1 invite we’re hoping that you’ll have time/interest in making a quick birthday video for Harper Sue’s gift. I made my video today and thought I’d share it as an example.

If you have a Mac and aren’t familiar with creating video you can watch my quick little demo here.

First Overnight

Rob’s birthday was this past Friday and in addition to a lovely dinner at Chez Spencer, an energetic Major Lazer show at the Mezzanine, and opening presents (including a monocle- the perfect gift for the discerning man turning forty), I also booked us a room at the W Hotel for our first baby-free overnight.

I had  no reservations leaving Harper with our dear nanny Marina and was able to sleep-in until 8am. BOTH of us got to read the paper over breakfast in the hotel restaurant before heading home for a day of lazy recuperation.

With our first overnight trial under our belt we have now entered phase 2 (2 nights, 1 full day) of preparation for 2 nights at Burning Man in late August.

Here’s a few snaps of Rob at Chez Spencer trying out his new monocle. Nice, huh?
